Positive COVID Test Result Information

If a tourist tests positive for COVID in Dubai, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has available isolation facilities and hotel facilities, which are to be paid for by the tourist. If a tourist has received COVID positive test results, DHA will contact them and arrange transfer to the facility. Isolation takes 7 days and they are required to do another PCR test on the 6th day.

COVID-19 Apps

Two apps are currently being used by the UAE government and Dubai Health Authority for recording and sharing test results and vaccination status. They may be used for entering restaurants, hotels, malls, and other  establishments while you are in the UAE. Depending on your situation, one app may work better than the other. We recommend you download both and register your data before arriving in Dubai.

Alhosn App

Alhosn is the official app of the UAE government used to record vaccinations, PCR tests, and other information related to the COVID-19 virus. We suggest you download the free app from the Apple app store or Google Play and register your data before you arrive.

When you arrive in the UAE, you may be administered a PCR test at the airport; the results will be registered on the Alhosn app for your use in entering restaurants, hotels, malls, and other establishments while you are in the UAE.

In addition, the US Department of State has recently provided the following guidance:

U.S. citizens who choose to travel internationally should make contingency plans, as they may have to remain in a foreign country longer than originally planned. The Department recommends international travel insurance with coverage for COVID-related trip cancellation and medical benefits. In general, Medicare and Medicaid do not cover overseas medical costs.

We will continue to keep you updated with the latest COVID guidelines as we receive them.

This is provided to you based on our best understanding of the current requirements, but it is the individual’s responsibility to ensure they follow all the latest airline and medical directives.
