You are cordially invited to a Congressional Reception honoring the Women, Peace, and Security Focal Points Network. This reception will be held on Friday, June 9 from 4:00-6:00pm at the U.S. Capitol. This reception is an unprecedented opportunity to
meet with global WPS leaders and demonstrate how industry is integrating, promoting, and sustaining the WPS agenda around the world.
The WPS Focal Points Network brings together 95 UN member states that have been designated an official focal point for implementation of the WPS agenda under UN Security Council Resolution 1325. These representatives from around the world — typically
ministerial level or other senior civilian or uniformed officials — will be hosted in Washington for a week of meetings organized by the U.S. and Romanian co-chairs.
The concluding reception will close a series of events and discussions to better integrate Women, Peace, and Security into nation state initiatives, global fora, and on-the-ground opportunities. Additional engagements during the week include meetings
with UN Women, U.S. government representatives, and civil society. This reception will give the Focal Points an opportunity to meet Congressional staff and ISOA members.
The reception is co-hosted by ISOA, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, and the WPS Focal Points Network.
