Please join the ISOA Legal Affairs Committee for a discussion of international tax challenges faced by organizations supporting global stability operations. This presentation will provide an overview of tax relief afforded by treaties, including income tax conventions, social security totalization agreements, and Status of Forces Agreements. The discussion will cover traps for the unwary when evaluating the VAT/GST cost of cross-border government contracts. Finally, the presenters will address recent US international tax developments, including new restrictions on foreign tax credits and guidance on export tax incentives (FDII).

Jeffrey Tebbs is a Member at Miller & Chevalier Chartered, where he advises multinational companies on complex international tax planning matters and represents businesses in related tax controversies. Prior to joining Miller & Chevalier, Jeff served as international tax counsel for a Fortune 100 aerospace and defense company, with principal responsibility for advising lines of business with annual sales exceeding $15 billion and operations spanning North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Sandeep Sharma, KPMG
Sandeep is a Managing Director in KPMG’s International Indirect Tax Services Group. Sandeep has over 20 years of experience in international indirect taxes. Prior to joining KPMG in the US, Sandeep worked in the UK advising on a multitude of International Indirect Tax issues. He has extensive experience in and an in-depth knowledge of the VAT regimes across EMEA, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Sandeep has a wealth of experience dealing with global projects in both practice and industry, which enables him to bring a well-balanced approach when assisting clients with their indirect tax consultancy and compliance needs. Sandeep assists a number of Fortune 100 clients in a broad range of industries, with a specific focus on Aerospace & Defense, in all aspects of indirect tax including supply chain planning, tax authority audit strategies and disputes, process and controls, M&A, assisting with the set-up of ERP systems and tax engines, tax saving strategies and compliance in the EMEA, LATAM and Asia markets.
